Dr. Daniel L. Stufflebeam has wide experience in evaluation, research, and testing. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and has held professorships at The Ohio State University and Western Michigan University. He directed the development of more than 100 standardized achievement tests, including eight forms of the GED Tests; led the development of the evaluation field’s Program and Personnel Evaluation Standards; established and directed the internationally respected Evaluation Center, directed the federally funded national research and development center on teacher evaluation and educational accountability, and developed the widely used CIPP Evaluation Model. He has conducted evaluations throughout the U.S., and in Asia, Europe, and South America. His clients have included foundations, universities, colleges, school districts, government agencies, the U.S. Marine Corps, a Catholic Diocese, and others. He has served as advisor to many federal and state government departments, the United Nations, World Bank, Open Learning Australia, several foundations, and many other organizations. He has lectured and provided technical assistance in more than 20 countries. He has served on the boards of the National Council on Measurement in Education, the Evaluation Network, and the American Evaluation Association. Currently he serves on the U.S. Government Accountability Office Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards. His publications have appeared in eight languages and include 18 books and about 100 journal articles and book chapters. He is the recipient of Western Michigan University’s Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award, the American Evaluation Association’s Paul F. Lazardsfeld Evaluation Theory Award, the WMU McKee Professorship of Education, the CREATE Jason Millman Memorial Award, and a WMU Distinguished University Professorship.
DANIEL L. STUFFLEBEAM is the McKee Professor of Education and Director of The Evaluation Center at Western Michigan University (WMU). He developed the CIPP Evaluation Model and led the development of the original editions of the Joint Committee standards for educational program and personnel evaluations. His publications include 13 books and about 100 journal articles and book chapters. He received the ERS/AEA Paul Lazersfeld prize, the WMU Distinguished Faculty Scholar Award, and the CREATE Jason Milman Award. His latest book, with George Madaus and Thomas Kellaghan, is “Evaluation Models” (Kluwer, 2000).
